80% of winning is beginning

Can there be any more hurdles or pains when trying to start a company?!?!. Its has to be one of the most testing things of patients! For me it has been 3 years of baby steps :/

But we are close, so close. Its crazy to think the marketing plan I am putting together this time around will be used.

Design – people first

What we are seeing in today’s markets across design is the importance of taking a human centric approach. This is the most basic principle of design but one that is often not the focus. By keeping the end user top of mind we can create an user experience that will resonate with them. From the design of the app, the flow of the presentation or building of a space, concentrating on how this makes them think, feel, act will create success

Simple by design

We are currently in the process of developing a branding for one of our start ups I work across… It has been a long journey to get where we are today! Of course we have tried it ourselves – discussed names, themes, brand identities in bars, pubs, cafe and clubs.  But we couldn’t find the identity we wanted to enter the market with… In the end I feel we are too close to know the best look and feel of our brand and plus I enjoy outside perspectives especially when they are well informed.

So enter the advertising and branding agency. Why the brand is in the embryonic stages one thing I love is simplicity in branding.. A design led process.

Are you ready to play the game?

This a diary of some sort about my life working global professional services firms and two start up companies. My mission is to share my insights, lessons and everything in between as I look to embark into the land of opportunity.

Opportunity in start ups or business for that matter is a funny thing, it can come packaged so nicely but as you start to unravel and dig deeper the rose colour glasses are quickly exchanged for a computer screen, a bottle of wine and endless reading… My biggest insights to date is you never stop learning, you have accept this and learn to enjoy this part of growing a business. The other is failure is inevitable.. But failure doesn’t always mean losing 1000’s of dollars, it could be the idea or markets are wrong so you need to adjust the model..

Agility is key, and red wine is your new best friend… Regardless of what happens just remember this all game and a journey, how you play it determines the outcome.
